Fall Flavors to Brew at Home: Cozy October Mornings With ASBR

October has a way of making its presence known here in York. One day we're still squeezing in beach days, and the next we're reaching for a sweater before the sun comes up. The mornings get quieter, the kitchen gets a little warmer, and that first cup of coffee starts to feel like the best part of the day.
We love seeing you at Anthony's Food Shop & Café this time of year - but we also know that some of the coziest fall mornings happen at home, with your favorite mug, before anyone else is awake. With this in mind, we put together a few of our favorite ways to bring the flavors of fall in Southern Maine right into your kitchen, whether you're down the street or hundreds of miles away.
Our Flavored Beans Were Made for Fall
If there's one coffee that says "it's officially fall," it's a flavored one. Our Flavored Beans start with freshly roasted Brazilian beans and finish with a delicate touch of sweet flavor - enough to make your morning feel a little special, without hiding the coffee underneath.
Each 1-pound bag comes in your choice of flavor, and a few of them feel like they were made for October:
- Pumpkin - about as fall as a cup of coffee gets, and a must for anyone who counts down to pumpkin season
- Gingerbread - warm and cozy, perfect for chilly mornings as the season turns toward the holidays
- Hazelnut - a nutty, comforting classic that's a favorite all year long
- Irish Cream - smooth and sweet, made for slow weekend mornings
- French Vanilla - a gentle, familiar flavor that pairs well with just about any fall breakfast
And if you like to plan ahead, flavors like Egg Nog and Nutcracker Sweet are ready and waiting for when the holidays roll around.
A Wicked Local Collaboration
Some of our favorite coffees come from working with our neighbors. Our Wiggly Bridge / Anthony's Collab is a limited release made with organic beans aged in bourbon barrels at Wiggly Bridge Distillery, just down the road from Anthony's.
This one isn't your typical morning cup. It's the kind of coffee you brew after dinner on a cool fall night, when friends and family are gathered around the table and nobody's in a rush to leave. If you've ever wanted a coffee that tastes like York in October, this is it.
When the Nights Get Longer
Fall in Maine moves fast, and the days have already started to become shorter. When that happens, our Winter Solstice dark roast is ready. It's our own blend of African and Central American coffees with notes of toasted almond, caramel, cocoa, and spice - a smooth, comforting cup inspired by the longest night of the year.
Brew It Your Way
Every bag we roast can be ground to match the way you brew at home. When you order, just choose Whole Bean, Auto Drip, French Press, Pour Over, Aeropress, Espresso, or Cold Brew, and we'll take care of the rest.
A few simple tips for a better cup at home:
- Start with fresh, cold water, and let it come just off the boil before brewing
- Measure your coffee - about 2 tablespoons of grounds for every 6 ounces of water is a great place to start, then adjust to taste
- Store your beans well - keep them in an airtight container in a cool, dark spot, and skip the fridge
- Grind right before brewing if you buy whole bean, for the freshest flavor
For mornings when there's no time to spare, our K-Cup 12-Packs come in Little River Blend, Little River Blend Decaf, and Italian Roast - the same coffee you love, ready in under a minute.
Bring Fall Home
However you take your coffee, we hope it helps you slow down and enjoy this beautiful time of year. Browse all of our coffee to find your fall favorite, or stop by Anthony's Food Shop & Café at 679 US Route 1 and grab a bag on your way home.
